AJ Coyne joined Monzo at the start of 2024 as their first marketing chief. Since then, he has spearheaded Monzo's first brand campaign in five years, painting the UK hot coral and launching a bold new brand strategy: Money never felt like Monzo. Under his leadership, Monzo has grown to over 14 million customers with their last 1M of growth being the fastest in their history. AJ has been at the forefront helping put people in control of their finances, while embedding Monzo in popular culture from creating the world's first ATMmm machine dispensing Greggs sausage rolls, to sparking a nationwide savings movement with over one million people joining Monzo's 1p Saving Challenge in less than a week. He also became a published author, partnering with Penguin to launch The Book of Money by Monzo, which reached the top of The Times bestseller list. In 2024, Monzo was named a Which? Recommended Provider and became the first bank ever to win 'Brand of the Year' from The Marketing Society.
