Michael’s empathy and characteristic energy have carried Ogilvy through the toughest of years. His clarity of vision, ability to spot and leverage opportunities in a crisis and his courage in making the difficult choices – no matter how tough it becomes - have never been more valuable than in 2020. Michael’s determination to maintain business momentum during this year, while simultaneously managing a crisis, is evident in the breadth of Ogilvy’s new business and organic wins, significant pipeline and sustained profit margin.
Under Michael’s leadership, we seamlessly flipped to remote working and led the industry in how best to work from home. We helped launch the Nightingale hospital. We shot ads, we developed apps, we created Christmas for Boots & Vodafone. We doubled down on our thought leadership.
We brought new Direct to Consumer, Brand Reputation and Employee Experience products to our clients, and to new clients. Our annual events, Nudgestock (external) and Quench (internal), went global. We’ve invested in our people by pressing ahead with our Apprenticeships and Pipe schemes. We’ve won 38 pitches and over 80 awards.
This year, Michael’s mantra has been ‘Stronger Together’. If endurance and flexibility are key measures of strength, then he, and the agency, have come through this year stronger than ever
